How much does it cost me to be an apprentice?Answer
Almost nothing! For the most part, participation in the apprenticeship program is funded through Education and Training Contributions that are paid as part of the compensation package for any hour any IBEW Local Union 234 electrician (Journeyman, Foreman or apprentice!) works in the Tri-County area. These contributions are made outside of the take home part of the paycheck, and are used to pay for most of the operating expenses of the apprenticeship program. This means that there is no tuition charge to be an apprentice. Currently however, there is a $200.00 book charge for every apprentice that starts the program.Copyright © 2010 Tri-County Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, Castroville, California.
